The Cost of Clean Water: Challenging the Notion of Paid Safety

The other day I came across an ad. It was for a filter that can be connected to your faucet, a faucet filter. Basically, the tap water has too much chlorine and other chemicals that are very bad for our skin. It can cause all sorts of skin problems they said. The solution to this is adding a filter. This removes all the chemicals in your water. Your water will be safe. So, every time your skin gets a splash of cleanest water.

The thing is these filters are hella expensive. I am appalled by the number of people promoting this product. They act as if clean water is a thing to be paid for and not something freely given. I wonder why we aren’t questioning this… why aren’t we thinking about the cause. Maybe money indeed is the solution to all the problems.

CHALLENGING THE NOTION OF PAID SAFETY

You pollute water. Then use technology to find ways to make it clean and safe. You do this just like all the other times. No questions, no responsibility, no nothing. If you have money, you have the solution. You are safe, or else you are to perish. Perish in the name of food, air and water that was meant to be free.

What is creating these problems in the first place?, no one needs an answer. Coz we create problems and technology saves the day, like a parent cleaning the mess created by a toddler. But wake up please, because there is so much than even technology can solve. After-all the answer is in plain sight going simple and parting with over-consumption. Embracing our roots and being aware of our actions are the easiest and most rewarding steps that can be taken.

Let us be the Change.
